nikon d5500 wont connect

I'm not sure if this is tied to the latest firmware i just put on my nikon d5500 but it doesnt seem to connect over the wifi from the camera. the nikon wireless app seems to work ok. the screen is just black and doesnt switch to liveview on the app. i tap the nikon icon in the top of the app and nothing happens, long press and make sure the ip is correct and nothing happens. i got the app to crash a couple times but do not have a logcat of that. not sure of what other info to provide

The latest Nikon firmware update for D5300 and D5500 will probably crash qDslrDashboard on Android .
There is a fix in work/testing.

Just saw the update in the play store, will play with it the next chance I get which will be tomorrow morning most likely. Thank you so much for the fast response, much appreciated.

I'm having much the same problem with my D 7200. Nikon's app works fine but I only get a black screen. I have only just purchased the software.
