If you set "image review after capture" in qDD settings, it will download only JPGs (if camera set to RAW+JPEG).
If you set qDD to save files to remote device, it will download both files.

jp.houbion, by default qDD downloads only JPEGs for preview purposes. You can download them manually or set qDD to save photos to computer instead camera SD.

I have no problems with connecting D610 to my phone and tablet. USB mode (MTP/PTP) on phone does not matter, those are for connecting phone to PC.
Are you sure that you have working OTG adapter ??
Also check it switching "Use Android native USB access" changes anything.

You can set qDD to save pictures to disk by long pressing shutter button. It will change color to red.
