OpenWRT support for TP-Link MR3020 & MR3040

Hi

I am a newbie who recently stumbled upon qDslrDashboard while searching for a wireless remote solution for my Canon EOS 550D DSLR.

I have a spare TP-Link MR3020 router which I was originally thinking of flashing with OpenWRT. However I am now a bit nervous of doing this as the OpenWRT website warns that “This device is NOT RECOMMENDED for future use with OpenWrt due to low flash/ram. DO MOT BUY DEVICES WITH 4MB FLASH /32 MB RAM if you intend to flash an up-to-date and secure OpenWrt version (18.06 or later) onto it! See 4/32 warning for details”.

Would appreciate any advice on the implication of this warning and if it is still advisable to go ahead. Thanks in advance.

This is true for the new version of the OpenWrt, the one that is available on the site is an older version that works with MR3020/3040.
What version is the MR3020?

It has an IC number 8853A-MR3020V1, so I guess it is a V1 model.

Then you have the OpenWrt firmware with ddserver at: https://dslrdashboard.info/downloads/

Instructions to flash: https://dslrdashboard.info/tp-link-mr30 ... wrt-flash/
Instructions to upgrade (if you already have OpenWrt on router): https://dslrdashboard.info/tp-link-mr30 ... e-upgrade/
